JPMorgan sued Tesla for $162 million

In dispute over Elon Musk’s 2018 tweets. JPMorgan Chase & Co. JPM, -0.18% on Monday filed a lawsuit against Tesla TSLA, -1.94%, seeking to recover $162.2 million, and accusing Tesla of breach of contract over  advanced auto orileys key covers elliott craigslist wilmington nc binghamton craigslist smokey nagata ancheer spin sick parts Transportation warrant transactions that JPMorgan claims Tesla did not pay.

Monday’s Manhattan federal court filing described an ongoing dispute. It also stated that “Tesla flagrantly ignored its contractual obligation to pay in full JPMorgan.”

The case revolves around warrant transactions in March and February of this year that required Tesla to pay the investment bank or shares of its stock or cash when Tesla shares’ “strike price” were above an agreed-upon amount when the warrants expired.

JPMorgan states that the warrants have  stroller mountain socks kanuga park ted’s used cars inland truck parts ryder used truck sales ramp truck a&s motorcycles state 8 motorcycles  diminished in value after Musk’s August 2018 tweet that Tesla had “funding secured” to go private at $420 per share. The fluctuation that followed was a burden on the prices of the stock, until warrants were canceled in June 2021 and in July 2021. This was way beyond both the strike and original price.

JPMorgan stated that adjustments to lower the strike price were made following Musk’s tweet in 2018 as well as after Tesla’s 5-for-1 stock split in 2020, however “Tesla has not agreed to accept the price of the contractual strike.”

The lawsuit states that Tesla in 2019 claimed JPMorgan’s adjustments were an “opportunistic attempt to profit of the change in Tesla’s stock volatility.”
